BDSS.EXE is a part of Bitdefender Scan Service, which is an important component of the BitDefender antivirus protection. This process runs in the background to scan files and folders. This file is located in a subfolder of “C:\Program Files\Common Files” (mainly C:\Program Files\Common Files\Softwin\BitDefender Scan Server\)

It should not be removed or disabled to ensure that your antivirus protection is working properly. If this process is stopped, BitDefender will not be able to protect your computer from viruses and Trojans effectively.

BDSS.EXE (highlighted in yellow) is shown in your Windows Task Manager as the image below:

It is also important that bdss.exe file should be regularly checked with other security tools so as to determine its validity since Trojans or adware applications sometimes disguise themselves as this process.

This is a safe process and it is strongly recommended that you leave it running. No need to change or remove this process from your system.
